Germany’s Alexander Zverev bagged the gold medal in the men’s tennis singles after a comfortable 6-3, 6-1 win against Karen Khachanov of Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

The 24 years old becomes the first to claim Germany’s second singles gold medal in tennis, 33 years after Steffi Graf at Seoul 1988!
His countrywoman Steffi Graf remains the only tennis player to win the Golden Slam of all four major titles and Olympic gold in one year

After claiming a massive upset win over Novak Djokovic in the semifinal, ending the world No. 1’s bid for a Golden Slam, Zverev put forth a statement performance against Khachanov needing only one hour and 19 minutes to win the match.
Zverev defeated the favourite Novak Djokovic in semifinals by 6-3, 3-6, 1-6. His growth has become obvious since reaching two Grand Slam semifinals and one Slam final.
He capped off his impressive performance at the Tokyo Olympics winning the gold medal.

Zverev is now 12-8 vs Top 3 players in best-of-3-sets matches.
