Mendy, 27, is due to appear in court on Friday with charges related to three complainants, over the age of 16, and are alleged to have happened between October 2020 and August 2021.
France international Mendy has been remanded in custody ahead of his appearance at Chester Magistrates’ Court and has been suspended by City pending an investigation.
Cheshire Police spokesperson said “Criminal proceedings against [Ben] Mendy are live and he has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice ongoing proceedings.”
The left back has been remanded in police custody and is set to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday 27 August.
