GSL: Three Players Handed Two-Year Ban For Attacking Referee.

The Disciplinary and Homologation committee of the 2020-2021 Guinness Super League has handed a two-year ban to Moussa Kagou, Béatrice Yakadam and captain Yvette Kamieta, all players of ASFF Diamare in the just concluded season.

According to the release published on Wednesday, August 25, the three footballers plus a number of staff and administrators of AS Diamare violently attacked Referee Ebouga Suzanne and the match commissioner of the Match-Day 17 fixture Ibrahim Aboubakar.

The detailed report from the match officials was submitted which has helped the commission in making the following decisions:

Team captain, Kamieta Yvette, Moussa and Yakadam were accused and found guilty of assaulting the match officials on that day and since, have been banned for two years from the date of publication of the verdict.

President and head coach Hamadou Boubakari, his Secretary General Pakouli Siddi and deputy coach Ahmadou have also recieved a two-year ban from all FECAFOOT competitions.

In addition the club ASFF Diamare who finished the season just above the relegation zone lose the game by forfeiture and a point deduction in their general classification. Hence, dropped into the relegation zone and have been relegated to the second tier Championship.

As Diamare drop to the 11th apot with just nine points instead of the initial 13 they accumulated this season, Renaissance Athleticque climbs to the 10th spot thus ensuring survival.

The decision is appealable within a specific period in reference to the FECAFOOT laws of the competition.
