Gerard Moreno was the competition’s top scorer, his seven goals and five assists helped Villarreal to their first ever major European trophy triumph.
The award which was announced today during the UEFA Europa League group stage draw in Istanbul, saw the 29-year-old finished with 289 voting points ahead of Manchester United pair of Bruno Fernandes (160 points) and Edinson Cavani (44 points) to win the fifth edition of the award.
