In honor of Cristiano Ronaldo becoming the highest goal scorer in men’s international football, Nike have build a special football pitch in Madeira.
Nike had been waiting for this moment. To celebrate its ambassador’s remarkable feat, as they unveiled a renovated CR7-themed pitch in the Funchal area of Madeira, Portugal, where Cristiano grew up.
The pitch includes painted goals designed by Portuguese artist AkaCorleone, featuring an illustrated timeline of Ronaldo’s career in 15 scenes.
The major theme of this project is tagged ‘GOAL‘. With a message ‘Greatness Starts With A Goal’, young and promising talents are encouraged to dream, set goals and aim for greatness.
“I always had a dream to be a footballer. Whatever it is you want to achieve in life, it’s important that you set goals so you have something to work toward, even if they are small goals, accomplishing them gives you a great focus and sense of achievement.” – Ronaldo says in a post.
Nike also created a commemorative CR110 boot (the 110th goal was the one that set the record, eclipsing Iran’s Ali Daei). Pairs will be given to 110 rising stars in the countries where Ronaldo has played club football: Portugal, England, Spain and Italy. The shoe’s design is a visual representation of records being broken.
