Exciting news emanating from Tanzania as president Samia Suluhu Hassan donate the sum of $100,000 for the sponsorship of CECAFA Women’s Cup tournament.
Tanzania Daily News report that tourney will be known as CECAFA Samia Women’s Cup and will hold next year.
A statement released by the Tanzania Football Federation said the financial donation will be used in the category of awards for both the winning teams and individuals as well as settling costs of related prizes.
In the prize pool, the winner get $30,000, first runner-up $20,000, while the second runner-up walk away with $10,000.
The financial donation towards the soccer event by the president comes days after she was heavily criticized for describing women footballers in the country as having ‘flat chest’ and not being attractive for suitors for marriage.
