The Premier League was today informed that Brazil’s football authorities have made request to FIFA to impose five days restriction following a number of players not being released for international duty.
Therefore, eight Brazilian players have been banned from defending the colours of their respective clubs in the Premier League.
The players did not travel for South American World Cup qualifying, after Premier League clubs took a stand to not release players, to avoid a 10-day quarantine upon their return from international duty.
The players include Liverpool’s trio of Alison Becker, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho. Goalkeeper Ederson and Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City.
Others are Thiago Silva of Chelsea, Leeds United’s Raphina and Manchester United mifielder Fred.
As a result of the ban, the players won’t be involved in league action this weekend until next Wednesday.
Only Fred and Silva, will miss Champions League matches during the following week, with the period set to run from September 10th until the 14th.
