Captain Oparanozie unable to save her Dijon side from Lyon’s Massacre.

It is Corinne Deacon’s party from the start for the Lyon supporters, who ask “the Lyonnaises at the Blue”, in reference to the non-selections of Amandine Henry.

With a hat-trick from Signe Bruun, a double from Catarina Macario and a goal from Melvine Malard, the Olympique Lyon players defeated a team captained by Nigerian international Desire Oparanozie, Dijon 6 – 0.

Oparanozie who is the captain of Dijon, played all minutes of the game pushing to rescue her side but Lyon who has won the league on a record twelve times, are too strong for her side to handle.

American Catarina Macario scored twice in the first half (3rd, 37th), including a nice free kick. The French international Melvine Malard had scored in the meantime, with a superb technical sequence in the area (36th).

Entering the break, Signe Bruun, former Parisian, scored a hat-trick (47th, 66th, 78th).

Lyon remain at the top of the D1 championship thanks to a better goal difference (+15) than PSG (+8) and Nnadozie’s Paris FC (+7 ).

Dijon will look to bounce back against Saint-Etienne after the international break on Saturday, 25 September.
