Antoine Griezmann joined Barcelona from Atletico in 2019, but couldn’t replicate the goal scoring form he showed during his time in the Spanish capital.
The French forward secured a loan move that takes him back to Atletico Madrid in the final hours of the latest transfer window deadline day.
There is a clause in Griezmann’s contract that could ensure that Atletico make the move permanent. The option to buy clause will be activated if he plays 50% of the games that he is available for.
Griezmann admits the Los Rojiblancos has always been his home and where he’s always been the happiest.
Today, he made his return debut for Atleti in a 1-2 away win against Espanyol.
With Atleti trailing 1-0, Griezmann was substituted in the 58th to give way for Joao Felix.
Yannick Carrasco draw level for the visitors in the 79th minute before Thomas Lemar net the winner in the 99th minute after the fourth official signalled a 10 minutes added time.
