FC Robo Queens of Lagos among early birds to arrive Edo State for the Betsy Obaseki women’s football tournament. Others include Fortress Ladies of Benin and Edo Queens as clubs embark on the compulsory Covid-19 test for all 12 participating clubs.
The tournament which starts tomorrow, Monday September 27, held its official draws tonight at the Edo State Government house. Present at the draws event are host, Her Excellency Betsy Obaseki – Edo State First lady, Deputy Governor of Edo State – Rt.Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, Hon. Minister for Youth and Sports – Mr.Sunday Dare among other dignitaries.
“Edo state has always been the heartbeat of sports in Nigeria. This administration is prepared to bring back the lost glory back in Edo, this was testified by ex international Nkiru Okosieme who started her football career in Benin city”. – Her excellency Betsy Obaseki speaking at the draws.
Earlier today, Governor Godwin Obaseki inspected Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium where the opening ceremony will held tomorrow.
