The indomitable lionesses of Cameroon will take on the Scorpions of Gambia, in the second qualifying round for the TotalEnergies Africa Women’s Cup of Nations 2022.

Gambia played a one all tie against Liberia, but sailed through on a 3-1 goal aggregate.

Gambia defeated Sierra Leone 2-0 in the away game at the Antoinette Tubman stadium, Monrovia thanks to goals from Buwaru and Joof.

In the return leg game played on Monday October 25, at the independence stadium in Bakau, Fatoumata Kantehicham opened scores for Gambia just 23 minutes after kick-off, but a 54th minute goal from Liberia’s Macauley, meant both teams shared the spoils, but Gambia went through to the last round of qualifiers, with a 3-1 aggregate score.

Coach Mariama Bom Sowe will be looking to create an upset, as The Scorpions are in search of their first ever participation in the final phase of the AWCON.
