Noha Mamdouh Abdelaziz made history as the first player to score a goal at the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League as her Egyptian side, Wadi Degla FC defeated AS Mandé of Mali 3-1 in the opening game of the tournament on Friday.
Noha opened the scoring from the penalty spot just three minutes into the game before Fatumata Dukureh doubled the lead for Wadi Degla FC six minutes later with a calm finish.
Awa Traore pulled one back for AS Mandé in the 32nd minute but it wasn’t enough as Jasmin Theresa makes it 3-1 from close range as the hosts takes all three points.
Hayam Abdelhafez won the TotalEnergies Women of the Match for her brilliant display in defense for Wadi Degla
Wadi Degla FC with the victory moved to the top of Group A with three points ahead of Malabo Kings (Equatorial Guinea) clash with Hasaacas Ladies FC (Ghana).
