In the historic 75th appearance of the VfL Wolfsburg Frauen in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, they ended up losing 2-0 at home to Juventus at the AOK Stadion, Wolfsburg on Thursday, after a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
With nothing to separate the two sides at halftime, Kathrin Hendrich’s own goal in the 53rd minute and a goal from Andrea Staskova in stoppage time (90 + 3) in front of 1,725 spectators in Wolfsburg decided the second leg.
The She-Wolfs dropped to the third position in Group A with five points from four games while the opponent from Italy has overtaken them with two games before the end of the group stage.
At the other game, Zhytlobud-1 picked its first win of the 2021/2022 UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage after a 0-2 win against Breidablik at the Kopavogsvöllur.
After assisting Yullia Shevchuk opening goal in the 42nd minute, Olha Ovdiychuk doubled the visitors lead in the 74th minute to give Zhytlobud-1 its first win in this competition.
Zhytlobud-1 occupy the third position in Group B with two points behind Real Madrid, and five points behind PSG.
