The Association’s Sports of Forces Armed Royal (ASFAR) of Morocco have won the third place title at the maiden edition of TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League, beating Equatorial Guinea’s Malabo King’s 3-1 at the 30 June Stadium, on Thursday.
ASFAR had the lead at halftime through Fatima Tagnaout 10th minute opener; Sanaa Mssoudy with a tactical hold-up play found Badri in the box who made a back heel stepped over for Tagnaout who then moved to her favorite left leg and strike superbly to beat Ruth Sunday in pole.
Five minutes after the break, Malabo King’s were able to equalize with Carolina Martins Pereira’s header.
In the 60th minute, Ghizlane Chebbak capitalized on Malabo’s goalkeeper mistake as she converted the second for her team. Chebbak then doubled her goal before the final whistle, to win the Woman of The Match award and ended it 3-1.

“In the first half, we played well. In the second half, we started making individual mistakes, and that’s the reason of the loss
“We performed well in the tournament generally, but we played today with many injured players. We learnt a lot from this tournament and we’ll use it for the future tournaments” Malabo Kings head coach Ruben Garcia said.
Abdallah Haidamou – ASFAR Coach on winning the bronze of the first ever women’s Champions League on the continent:
“It was a good match. We talked with the players and agreed that now we have to at least get a medal to Morocco after we lost the chance for both gold and silver medals,” he said.
“We hope the club’s chief gives the girls the financial prizes they deserve,” he added.
The coach then single out forward and Moroccan women’s international Ghizlane Chebbak while praising his squad.
“Ghizlane Chebbak is great in and outside of the field. She’s the beating heart of the team, and today she got what she deserved”.

The final of the inaugural Women’s Caf Champions league will be held Friday with South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns against Ghana’s Hasacas Ladies.
