CAFWCL: Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies crowned Champions of Africa

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa becomes the first ever team to win the CAF Women Champions League after beating Hasaacas Ladies FC of Ghana 2-0 on Friday at the 30 June Stadium.

The defeat is Hasaacas’ first in this competition after winning three of its games and also earned one draw.

Andisiwe Mgcoyi assisted Chuene Morifi whose tap-in opened the scoring in the 33rd minute. Mgcoyi in the 65th minute doubled the lead and seal the victory for the COSAFA champions.

The South Africans are crowned as Champions of Africa winning it without conceding any goal in the campaign.

The Mamelodi outfit also become the first team to win both the men and women Champions League in Africa, after their male counterpart had won the men’s category in 2016.

Individual awards were presented at the end of the tournament as Hasaacas Ladies forward, Evelyn Badu win the Golden Boot award after becoming the topscorer of the competition with five goals and also grabbed the Golden Ball award for her impressive brilliance, winning two Player of the match award.
