Uchenna Kanu set to join Tigres Femenil on permanent deal

Following the expiration of her contract with Swedish outfit, Linkopings FC in November, Super Falcons forward, Uchenna Kanu is set to join the Mexican Champions, Tigres Femenil on a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old has reportedly penned down a two year deal with an option of extending with another 12 months with the Liga MX Femenil champions as she will help her new side continue their league dominance as they gun for their fifth Liga MX Femenil title.

Uchenna was sighted on Wednesday morning at the Monterrey airport in line to finish the last details of her potential move, such as medical tests and the signing of the contract, before being made official. She was even seen at the University Stadium in the semifinals game of the Apertura 2021.

The Nigerian international spent two seasons with Linkopings scoring 22 goals in 44 appearances in all competition for Swedish club Linköpings FC.

Kanu has contributed five goals in 10 caps for Nigeria National Women’s Football team since making her debut in 2019. Her two goals in the first leg of the AWCON qualifier earned the Falcons a 2-1 aggregate win over Ghana to progress to the next round.

When the deal is finalized, she will become the second foreigner on Tigres Femenil’s roster after signing Stefany Ferrer last summer.
