CAF Confederation Cup: Uzor Kalu promised Enyimba N1m if victorious over Al Ittihad

The People’s Elephants of Aba, Nigeria, Enyimba FC welcome their Libyan opponent for the second leg playoff of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

The first leg fixture of the match was not played after Enyimba FC were denied entry into Tunisia –adopted home ground of Al-Ittihad– due to COVID-19 travel restriction on Nigeria.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has however promised a sum of N1 Million if Enyimba secure the needed victory over their North-African counterparts on Sunday.

“Coming out victorious in the match is very important to us. I will congratulate the players with one million naira if they win the match.”- The Senator posted on his Facebook account on Saturday.

Undefeated Finidi George says his team are mentally prepared for their CAF Confederation Cup second-leg playoff clash against Al Ittihad, after the unfortunate and disappointing experience they faced in Morocco on their way to Tunis for the botched first-leg tie a week ago.

With uncertainty still hovering around the date and venue of the first-leg, the 50-year-old tactician is hoping Enyimba, who have reached the quarter-finals of the competition in the last two seasons, can secure a big win against Al Ittihad to render the reverse fixture a mere formality.

The game is scheduled to kick-off at 3:30 pm Nigeria time on Sunday, 5 December.
