U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier: Morocco with 3-1 first leg advantage over Gambia

The U20 Women’s national team of Morocco defeated Gambia 3-1 on Monday at Moulay Hassan Sporting Complex, in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup scheduled for Costa Rica 2022.

Just two minutes into the game, Sofia Bouftini opened the scoring for the hosts, Kawtar Mahy doubled the lead from the spot kick in the 15th minute and El Amrani Oumayma sealed the victory in the 55th minute before Fataomata Jammeh scored one back for the visitors.

The young Atlas Lionesses are the only North Africa team left in the cadet world cup qualifiers. The third qualifying round first leg of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022 will mark the imminence of results and only two teams will represent the continent at next year’s world cup.
