FIFA The Best Awards: Emma Hayes, Sarina Wiegman Among Final Nominees For The Best Women’s Coach Award

Chelsea FC Women’s coach, Emma Hayes, and English Women’s national team coach, Sarina Wiegman have been shortlisted among final top three for the 2021 FIFA Best Women’s Coach Award alongside former FC Barcelona coach, Lluis Cortes. The winner will be announced on 17 January.

Lluís Cortés who won treble with Spanish Primera Iberdrola side, FC Barcelona Femeni including the club’s first European title last season before his appointment as Ukraine coach will battle it out with two women’s coaches.

Champions League finalist, Emma Hayes guided Chelsea FC Women to a domestic treble winning the Barclays English FA Women’s Super League (WSL), FA Cup, and League Cup as well as getting to the final of the 2020/21 UEFA Women’s Champions League, losing 4-0 to FC Barcelona Femeni in the final match. Hayes become the first Chelsea Women’s head coach to win the domestic treble and also set a new FAWSL record for most consecutive games without defeat (33).

Newly appointed English Women’s football team coach, Sarina Wiegman came into office in 2021 and since won all six group games on the way of 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, scoring 53 goals without conceding any goal.
