Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu has been voted the winner of the 2021 Belgian Golden Shoe Award following his stellar performance in 2021, after finishing third last year behind Raphael Holzhauser and Lior Refaelov.
The Nigerian international scored 29 league goals in the 2020/21 season and he has scored a further 12 goals in the current season.
The 27-year-old earned 333 votes to beat the Club Brugge duo of Noa Lang (272 votes) and Charles De Ketelaere (271 votes) in second and third, respectively.
Onuachu become the first-ever Nigerian player to win the award and the fifth African player to have won the award after Soulemane Oulare, Aruna Dindane, Mbark Boussoufa, and Dieumerci Mbokani.
The award is given at the beginning of every year to The Best Footballer In The Country’s First Division A League for the past year.
