Nigerian international Uchenna Kanu has opened goal scoring account with her new team Tigres UANL in her team’s 1-1 draw against Guadalajara on Monday in the matchday two of the Mexican Women’s Soccer League.
Tigres dominated Chivas in the first half and Kanu could have been on the scoresheet earlier in the 29th minute but her shot inside the area was deflected to a corner kick by the defense.
The 24-year-old Nigerian striker opened the deadlock when she headed a corner kick into the back of the net, making it 1-0 in the 51st minute.
Unmarked Joseline Montoya headed home the equalising goal in the 63rd minute as the game ended 1-1.
Kanu joined Tigres from Linkopings and has made her debut in a 1-3 away win over Necaxa on January 11, where she came close to scoring on her debut.
The Nigerian has played 180 minutes for the Tigres as they occupies third position on the table with four points from two games and will next face Juarez away on January 25.
