The Black Princesses of Ghana power past Uganda to seal a date with Ethiopia in the final round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, extending their quest to qualify for a sixth successive outing.
Having won the reversed 2-1 at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, the Black Princesses progressed on a 7-1 aggregate after winning 5-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.
Captain Evelyn Badu opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after sliding home a low cross from the left. Three minutes later, Abdul Salamatu doubled the lead to end the first half 2-0 in favour of Ghana.
When it seems the game would end with that scoreline, substitute Jafaru Rahama latched in from close range with just seven minutes of regular time remaining. Doris Boaduwaa then bagged a late minute brace to wrap the rout, with her first coming on the 88 minutes before scoring from the spot in the third minute of added time.
Only two teams will represent the continent at the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
