At the Soccer Queens Cup maiden edition, Royaltoms Queens grabbed a back-to-back victory while Imo Strikers handed Abruka Queens another blow.
Imo Strikers vs Abruka Queens:
The day was opened with Imo Strikers and Abruka Queens in the early kickoff, as North Central side were condemned to its second after losing 1-0 to Fortress Ladies on day one.
The South-East representative had more pressure on the Abruka defence but the effort of Boniface Elizabeth in goal has been their stumbling block.
With nothing to separate the two sides at halftime, the goal come in the 64th minute thanks to Harmony Ashilefu who gave Imo Strikers the advantage, before the team’s captain Comfort double the lead in the added minute of the second half.
Fortress Ladies vs Royaltoms Queens:
After earning maximum points on matchday one, the two sides faced off in the battle of group toppers. Fortress won its first match 1-0 against Abruka, while Royaltoms won 3-0 over Kaduna Queens.
The first half ended with both teams not finding the back of the net despite having had their fair share of opportunities.
Opeyemi Ayoola later broke the deadlock from the spot kick in the 67th minute after referee sighted a handball in the Fortress defense.
