The Nigeria U17 girls national football team, Flamingos will begin their journey in the FIFA U17 World Cup qualifiers with a second round, first leg tie against their counterparts of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa on Sunday.
The three-time quarter finalists (2010, 2012 and 2014), have been in camp for some weeks in the Federal Capital, Abuja and Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has selected 20 players to face the Congolese for a ticket at this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
With the return leg scheduled for the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday, 19th March, and the winner over the two legs will slug it out against Egypt next month.
Flamingos have participated in every edition of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup except for Uruguay 2018.
Only three teams will represent the continent at this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, India 2022.
