U17WWCQ: Nigeria’s Flamingos condemn DR Congo in qualifying race

A ruthless Nigeria U17 women’s national team recorded a 5-0 victory against their counterparts from Congo on Saturday, and progress to the third round qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled to take place in India later in October.

Before the reserve fixtures, the Nigerians gained a fine 3-0 triumph in Kinshasa,  and continued from where they left off in the first leg as they thrashed the Congolese to seal their passage to the next round at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Opeyemi Ajakaye scored in the fifth and 14th minute to give the Flamingoes a two goal lead.

Oluwatunmininu Adeshina made it three in the 23rd minute to dash visitors’ comeback hopes at half time.

After the restart, Doosur Atume added a fourth in the 62nd minute while Taiwo Afolabi scored the fifth in the 88th minute.

After cruising past DR Congo, the Flamingoes will face off with Egypt next month, who advanced following the second round withdrawal of Guinea Bissau.
