Black Saturday in the NWFL Premiership as Sunshine Queens FC lose goalkeeper

According to the club statement, veteran goalkeeper Elizabeth Johnson (Janded) is no more, the player died on Saturday.

Before her heartbreaking demise, the player trained with the team on Friday at the Akure township Stadium where she complained of fever and dizziness.
The Goalkeeper was then taken to the hospital but unfortunately gave up the ghost before getting to the desired destination for treatment.

The late Elizabeth Johnson was an experienced Goalkeeper that had played for Sunshine Queens for a good number of seasons.

She was also part of the team that played the much talked about NWFL Premiership Super 6 final last season against Rivers Angels, in IJebu Ode.

The Nigerian Women’s Football community was shocked as the news of her death filtered in late Saturday. She will be missed by her teammates, friends, and loved ones.

Arrangements for Elizabeth Johnson burial will be made public soonest.
