WATCH: Nigeria U20 Girls Beat Senegal 4-1 To Qualify For FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s team recorded a 4-1 victory against their counterparts from Senegal on Saturday, March 26, 2022 to qualify for the 2022 FIFA U20 World Cup on a 7-2 aggregate against the Senegalese.

The Falconets came into the second leg after a 3-1 victory away at the Stade Lat-Dior, Thiès. Flourish Sabastine scored all three goals.

The hat trick hero put Nigeria in front in the second leg just seven minutes into the game before she converted Esther Onyenezide’s cross to score her second of the game in the 20th minute.

Three minutes later, Esther missed a penalty but the referee asked to retake as the Senegalese goalkeeper moved off her line. She made no mistake to extend the lead.

At the other end, the referee awarded a penalty to the visitors which the Senegalese goalkeeper Adji Ndiaye made no mistake to reduce the deficit as the game ended 3-1 at the halftime break.

Joy Jerry came off the bench to put the final nail on the coffin as she scored the fourth for the Falconets in the 89th minute as they held on to record a 4-1 win at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

The two-time finalist Falconets of Nigeria will once again represent the African continent at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup scheduled for August 10 to 28 in Costa Rica.
