Payne assists Sevilla against Alavés

Sevilla FC Femenino beat Deportivo Alavés at home (1-0) on Saturday afternoon, thanks to Toni Payne’s crucial assist.

Kgadiete’s early strike secures Mamelodi Sundowns win

Melinda Kgadiete scored a fourth-minute goal as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC of South Africa defeated Vihiga Queens of Kenya 1-0 in the opening Group B game.

Kgadiete’s early strike was enough for the COSAFA champions to earn maximum points against the CECAFA champions in a dominating game.

CAFWCL: Mssoudy’s historic hat-trick ruins Rivers Angels’ opening game

Sanaa Mssoudy scored historic hat-trick as ASFAR FC of Morocco defeated Rivers Angels 3-0 and become the first player to score three goals in one match of the maiden TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.

Mssoudy opened her goal account in the 30th minute through Ghizlane Chebbak’s assist to give her side the halftime lead against Nigerian Champions.

The two combined once again as the game resumed for second half. Chebbak kicked forward a counter attack pass which was well received by Mssoudy who rounded off the two River’s defenders before slotting in calmly to double the lead in the 73rd minute.

ASFAR FC captain Ghizlane Chebbak wasn’t done with dishing out assist Sanaa Mssoudy was never tired of receiving her captain’s assist as she tapped in her third goal in the 83rd minute.

ASFAR FC moved to the top of Group B with three points and a superior goal difference ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC.

Oshoala bangs 11th goal of the season to extend lead on topscorer chart

Asisat Oshoala scored in consecutive league game for Spanish Primera Iberdrola side, as the Barça Femenino continues its great trajectory in the domestic competition and this Saturday the Catalans have prevailed in their visit to Eibar (0-3).

CAFWCL: Evelyn Badu brace Hasaacas Ladies to victory over Malabo Kings

Treble holders, Hasaacas Ladies kicked off its quadruple campaign with a win at the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League, beating Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea 1-3 on Friday, at the 30 June Stadium, Cairo.

Evelyn Badu opened the game for Hasaacas Ladies FC in the 11th minute from a Jabaru’s assist.

The Ghanaian based team were denied on many occasions by the Malabo Kings goalkeeper, Chinasa Ruth. The Nigerian made a lot of saves to keep the hope of her side alive but failed in the 85th minute when Pepertual Agyekum doubled the lead for Hasaacas Ladies.

Four minutes later, Stéphanie reduced the deficit as she pulled a goal back for Malabo Kings. While the Kings were searching for an equaliser, Evelyn Badu scored her second goal of the match in the additional minutes of second-half to finally seal the game for Hasaacas Ladies.

Wadi Degla FC of Egypt earlier on defeated AS Mandé of Mali 3-1 to move to the top of Group A with three points and are now points and goal difference level alongside Hasaacas Ladies.

Wadi Degla will face Malabo Kings in its next game on November 8, while Hasacaas Ladies FC and AS Mandé trade tackles in the second game on the same day.

Noha Mamdouh scores first goal of the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League

Noha Mamdouh Abdelaziz made history as the first player to score a goal at the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League as her Egyptian side, Wadi Degla FC defeated AS Mandé of Mali 3-1 in the opening game of the tournament on Friday.

Noha opened the scoring from the penalty spot just three minutes into the game before Fatumata Dukureh doubled the lead for Wadi Degla FC six minutes later with a calm finish.

Awa Traore pulled one back for AS Mandé in the 32nd minute but it wasn’t enough as Jasmin Theresa makes it 3-1 from close range as the hosts takes all three points.

Gaelle Enganamouit resigns as team manager of the Indomitable Lioness

Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon forward cum team manager has expressed her desire to step down from her role with immediate effect in a release trending on social media on Thursday evening.

The 30-year-old points out varied reasons amounting to her decision barely few months after she took office. Enganamouit was appointed team manager in April this year to replace Bella Rose.

Coach Danjuma invites 2 foreign-based players to Falconets camp ahead of Congo clash

Coach Christopher Danjuma has invited 31 players to the camp of Nigeria’s U20 women national team, Falconets for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup third round fixture against Congo, with the first leg taking place in Brazzaville on 5th December. Nigeria will host the return leg at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos on Thursday, 16th December.

The 31-player squad list was released in a statement by the Communications Department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday. The list which comprises of four goalkeepers, nine defenders, ten midfielders, and eight forwards while Brighton and Hove Albion forward Juliet Adebowale and Denmark-based Joy Omewa are the only foreign-based players invited by the Falconets coach.

All 31 players have been asked to report at the Serob Hotel in the Wuye district of Abuja on Sunday, 7th November with their training kits, international e-passports, and certificates of birth. However, four players of Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt that is taking part in the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League holding in Egypt 5th – 19th November, have been excused to report in camp after their engagement in North Africa.

UCL: How players of Nigeria and Nigerian descent fair on Tuesday

It’s a night to remember it was for Lukas Nmecha whose beautiful goal earned Wolfsburg a 2-1 win over Salzburb on Tuesday.

Going into the game, Wolfsburg needed an outright victory to give themselves the chance of progressing from Group-G and with the scores at 1-1, the Nigerian blood forward scored a beauty of a goal from a close range to send Wolfsburg straight up to 3rd, 2 points adrift the evening’s opponent, Salzburg who currently leads the group.

Salzburg teenager Karim Adeyemi had a first big chance after only two minutes but he could not quite control his shot from four metres out to fire wide. Adeyemi and Noah Okafor both had their moments to give Salzburg the lead with the scores at 1-1 but poor finishing stopped them from getting registered in the scorers’ chat for the evening.

Elsewhere, Villarreal also boosted their hopes of reaching the Champions League knockout stage after goals from Etienne Capoue and Arnaut Danjuma gave the Spanish side a 2-0 home win over Swiss rivals Young Boys in Group-F on Tuesday.

Arnault Danjuma’s late goal helped Villarreal to a comfortable 2-0 win over Young Boys. The Nigerian eligible Danjuma has been in fantastic form for Villarreal this season and the evening’s goal made it his second of the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League campaign.
